This is Gentle Musings, and the following will include my book list for 2017. Witty Cynicism will follow up with her extremely boring and lack luster list after mine. You should spot the differences immediately. It’s important to note, that these choices are purely for my own enjoyment, and I do not care if you have a particular opinion about them, actually i do not care for any opinions on anything ever.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd
By: Agatha Christie
Mystery
A mystery novel from the Queen of Mystery herself. At least that’s what the cover tells me.

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes
By: Caitlin Doughty
Non Fiction
Its a non fiction book that will at least provide a few inappropriate death jokes to my repertoire.
Frankenstein
By: Mary Shelley
Classic
A novel sure to be as positive and uplifting as Mary Shelley’s actual life.

Clean Sweep
By: Ilona Andrews
Romance
This is for my co conspirator/ co writer/ co blogger/ co person Witty Cynicism who doubts that a Romance Novel can be decent. Its up to you Ilona Andrews to show her that while it might lack some intellectual depth it makes up for in being god damn entertaining.

Dark Matter
By: Blake Crouch
Science Fiction
In the celebration of an era where everything is trying to out weird each other, this book is suppose to be very strange, and I can support that.
The Rose Society
By: Marie Lu
Young Adult
Of course a young adult book on the list. Possibly Dystopian, probably some special powers, and absolutely a couple of whiny teenagers. Its everyones guilty pleasure.. Dont deny it!
Witty Cynicism here! You’re probably a little bored after reading the selections above and thinking “I am going to stop reading this blog immediately!” But before you click that close button at the top of your window hang on because things are about to get interesting! A few things about me, I’m hard to please and a bit critical. If you read ‘In a Dark, Dark Wood’ and thought it was thought provoking and the “twist” at the end was fantastic, then I guarantee you and I will not see eye to eye! If when you finish reading a disappointing book and immediately go on GoodReads to seek out all the reader’s comments that gave it a one star rating because they’re hilarious and accurate, then Welcome my Friend, this is the spot for you!

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass
By: Lewis Carroll
Fantasy
This has been on my list for about ten years and thanks to Westworld, I am now officially going down the rabbit hole.

This is Where it Ends
By: Marieke Nijkamp
Young Adult
Thanks to Gentle Musing picking the Rose Society, I choose to opt out (Thanks a lot) of Empire of Storms, another young adult fantasy, and go with a young adult tragedy.

The Cuckoos Calling
By: Robert Galbraith
Crime
A supermodel dies and a detective investigates is an age old tale, but to hear it from the great JK Rowling (she used a pseudonym) is something I can’t pass up. If you don’t know what a pseudonym is, please leave; and the same goes for those who don’t know JK Rowling’s works.

The Blind Assassin
by: Margaret Atwood
Historical Drama
The Handmaids Tale being one of my favorite books, I didn’t think I could go wrong with another Atwood. Enough said.

Going Clear
By: Lawrence Wright
Non-Fiction
Because who doesn’t want to read about those Hollywood whack job cults!

Mistakes I Made During the Zombie Apocalypse
By: Michelle Kilmer
Apocalyptic
If you are like me and planning to not only survive, but thrive when zombies come out to play, then you’ll really want to know what not to do.
